„Think again, think better, think new.“

At the end of a podcast about Malcolm X, the presenter said „Think again, think better, think new“. That sounded good, so I after I got home, I thought again about what she had said. To better understand the meaning. And to learn something new.

Think Again
Reevaluate, reflect, reconsider. It suggests questioning initial assumptions, revisiting prior ideas, and approaching them with a fresh perspective. It may require honesty, humility and an openness to change.

Think Better
Improve the quality of your thoughts. But how can we think better? There is no guarantee of results, but better thinking will only happen when we use awareness deliberately, as in the expression „know thyself“.

Think New
To think new happens daily and automatically for kids, but for adults, we often have fixed ideas. My personal strategy to „think new“ is to say no to my habits, forcing me to choose an alternative. For instance, not turning the habitual left at the fork in the path, not buying my habitual black t-shirt, but another style, not drinking alcohol at this event, but a new fruit mocktail. It calls for stepping outside the bounds of one’s conventional thought, embracing novelty, and fostering creativity to explore uncharted territory.
